"I send my child to Santa Maria School because it is the safest and best place to have a well rounded quality education founded in Christ."
Parent, 1st grade
Santa Maria is first and foremost a Catholic School with Christ as our main teacher. Everything we say and do reminds us of this. Students participate in Religion class every day to learn the basic tenets of our faith. All other classes incorporate student spirituality and moral development as well.
Students are given the opportunity to put their faith into action throughout the year. Student-led donation drives are conducted throughout the course of the year to support the community. Each Fall the 7th grade coordinates a food drive to help provide Thanksgiving meals to those in need. The 8th grade led a school-wide Advent project to collect books for the children’s playroom at Jacobi Hospital in the Bronx. During Catholic Schools week the school will participate in a project to raise money for Charity Water.
Service projects allow students to actively participate in helping others thus becoming imitators of Christ. This also instills in them a spirit of service which becomes a natural part of their lives.
